English Danny Welbeck, the Brighton striker, broke his silence regarding reports linking him to an exciting return to the ranks of Manchester United.
Welbeck grew up at Manchester United before leaving for Arsenal in 2014.
Welbeck told talkSPORT: “It’s just speculation. As a Manchester United boy, I always feel a special connection to the club, but my focus now is completely on what I can do for Brighton.”
Welbeck started the new season with Brighton with an impressive performance, scoring 6 goals in 12 league matches, which also sparked talk about the possibility of him returning to the England squad.
Welbeck, the player, downplayed the importance of this idea at the present time, saying: “I had a wonderful time with the England national team, but my focus is entirely on Brighton, and the rest of the matters will decide on their own.”
Welbeck played a prominent role for Manchester United during his time with the club, scoring 29 goals in all competitions.
He was also a regular in the England national team, making 42 international appearances and scoring 16 goals.
