Suspicion of thefts in Kibbutz Ein Hasholsha: restoration workers broke into residents’ homes
Six houses in Kibbutz Ein HaSlosha in the Gaza Strip were broken into and valuable equipment was stolen from them during the reconstruction work being carried out there. According to the suspicion, the break-ins and thefts were carried out by laborers who were employed in demolition and restoration work in the kibbutz.
Among the homes that were broken into was the home of Rauma and Gadi Kedem, the parents of the late Tamar Kedem-Siman Tov, who was murdered along with her family members in Kibbutz Nir Oz in the terrorist attack on October 7.
The suspicion arose that the perpetrators of the thefts were the employees of the contractor responsible for the restoration work in the kibbutz, but so far no suspects have been arrested in the case. The police have opened an investigation and are collecting evidence from those involved.
The kibbutz administration responded to the incident by saying that it will not let these obstacles delay the process of rehabilitation and return to normalcy. “We are moving forward despite the difficulties,” the kibbutz said.
The event joins a series of challenges faced by residents of the Gaza Envelope on their way to rebuilding their homes and communities following the war.
