Omar Atzili on his way back to the Premier League?

Omar Atzili will be able to leave Omonia Nicosia for free next month. In the contract of the Israeli star, who signed with the club last summer, there is a mutual clause that allows him to leave the Cypriot team in the January window without a transfer fee. This means that whoever wants him in a few weeks, will have to deal with his contract – but not with an amount of money for the Cypriot team.

Omonia did not want to include the aforementioned clause in the contract given to Atzili during the summer, but it was inserted anyway and now it will allow the player an easier transition to a team that wants him – in the Premier League or abroad. As we know, the Israeli midfielder has not been playing recently in the ranks of Omnia and it is not impossible that the decision not to play him is related to the fact that he can leave without compensation.

The player’s name is linked as always, and naturally, to Maccabi Haifa, but also to Beitar Jerusalem and even to Hapoel Tel Aviv. He will not return to Maccabi Tel Aviv and it seems that in order for Hapoel Beer Sheva to enter the picture, it first needs to get rid of players like Guy Badash and Rotam Hatuel, who are sitting on the budget and are not included in Ran Kozhoch’s staff recently.

The 31-year-old Atzili participated in ten games in all competitions this season for only 308 minutes and failed to score, but only scored once against Zira in the Conference League qualifiers.

At the end of November, a member of the board of Omonia Nicosia, Nicholas Georgiadis, was interviewed by local television and claimed: “We did not receive any offer for Omer Azili. We will still need him this season. Omer needs to raise his level, we expect a lot from him. He arrived in a new country and was injured, things did not go well for him As the season progresses and we get closer to the playoffs and the championship games, we will need everyone – including Atzili.”
