The curtain came down on Thursday evening on the sixth round of the league stage of the 2024-2025 European League.
The sixth round witnessed exciting results that led to fluctuations in the European League standings, with two rounds remaining until the end of the competition.
The European League system was changed starting from the current season, increasing the number of participating teams to 36 instead of 32.
Instead of dividing the participating clubs into groups as was done previously, each team plays 8 matches, 4 at home and 4 away from home, in the league stage (first round).
The clubs that occupy the first 8 places qualify directly to the round of 16, and the holders of positions from 9 to 24 participate in a home-and-away play-off system, from which 8 teams advance to the final 16.
Europa League standings table 2024-2025 after the sixth round
Eintracht Frankfurt, which includes Egyptian professional Omar Marmoush in its ranks, suffered its first loss this season in the European League, falling 2-3 to French Olympique Lyonnais.
Despite this, Frankfurt is still among the top clubs, as it ranks fifth with 13 points.
Marmoush had scored a goal in the final minutes of the Lyon match, 22 minutes after coming on as a substitute.
On the other hand, French club Nice, which includes another Egyptian professional, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, is suffering, as it lost 1-2 to Belgian Union Saint-Gloise, remaining in 35th place (penultimate) with only two points.
It should be noted that Abdel Moneim did not participate in the Nice match against Saint-Gloise.
