Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk renewed his victory over Briton Tyson Fury when he defeated him by unanimous points on Saturday in Riyadh, and retained the unified world heavyweight title, 7 months after he won what was called “the fight of the century” in the Saudi capital as well.
The 37-year-old Ukrainian imposed his rhythm and hit Fury several times with his left punches, and was awarded 116 points by all three judges, compared to 112 for the Briton.
On May 19, Usyk became the first champion to win the unified world heavyweight title in 25 years, specifically since Briton Lennox Lewis in 1999, by defeating Fury by a split decision of the judges, as two of them gave the advantage to the Ukrainian 115-112 and 114-113. While the third gave the advantage to Fury 114-113.

At that time, the Ukrainian combined the belts of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), the World Boxing Organization (WBO), the World Boxing Association (WBA) and the World Boxing Council (WBC).
This time, there were only 3 belts available to defend, as Usyk has since relinquished the IBF title.
Usyk, who has become a symbol of his country, strengthened his undefeated record in 23 fights in his professional career.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky greeted boxer Usyk via the Telegram application, saying, “By retaining the champion’s belt, Oleksandr proves that we are Ukrainians, and that we will never give up what we have,” adding, “No matter the difficulties, we will prevail, whether in the ring, on the battlefield, or in the diplomatic arena.” .
On the other hand, Fury – who was 25 kilograms heavier than his opponent – suffered the second defeat in his professional career, compared to 34 wins and one draw.
