After Trump’s statements, the Prime Minister of Greenland: Our island is not for sale

Moti Egedi, Prime Minister of Greenland, said that the island is not for sale, after US President-elect Donald Trump called for US control of the island.

Trump wrote in a post on the Truth Social platform: For the sake of national security and freedom throughout the world, the United States believes that ownership and control of the island is an absolute necessity.

These statements angered Egedi, who commented: We are not for sale, and we will not be for sale. He added: We should not lose our long struggle for freedom, yet we must continue to be open to cooperation and trade with the whole world, especially with our neighbors.

Greenland is an autonomous Danish region, home to a large American space facility, and is located on the shortest path from the United States to Europe, highlighting its strategic importance to America.
