Barcelona are aiming to strengthen their wings again in this summer’s transfer window, after failing to sign Nico Williams last summer. To that end, several notable names have already been linked to the team, including Rafael Leau, Haviche Cabretzahalia, Luis Dias and Marcus Rashford.
Another name that has been linked with the Catalans in recent weeks is Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, who could be an attractive option for Barcelona as his contract with the Bavarian club expires at the end of the current season.
Recent reports from Germany suggest that Sane will likely not stay at Bayern and move to a new team after five years at the club. He has attracted a lot of interest from the Premier League, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United already targeting him, while Liverpool currently look the frontrunners to sign him for free this summer.
At the same time, he also received offers from the Italian Serie A and the Saudi League. However, according to a report in ‘Mundo Deportivo’, the player himself prefers to join Barcelona and is ready to prefer the Catalans over a return to the Premier League, where he previously played for Manchester City.
One of the factors that may increase his desire to join Barcelona is the presence of Hanzi Flick on the team’s bench. Sane played under Flick at Bayern Munich and gained significant playing minutes, scoring 10 goals and assisting 12 more in 44 appearances under him.
Therefore, while Barcelona continue to look for options to strengthen the left wing, Sane, who is currently valued at around 45 million euros, could be a particularly attractive candidate. The player himself is interested in joining, and the fact that Barcelona will not have to pay a transfer fee makes the move appropriate for the club that is in financial difficulties.
