Today, Thursday, the Economic Misdemeanor Court of Appeal in Cairo decided to reserve Sheikh Muhammad Abu Bakr’s appeal against his two-month imprisonment, on charges of insulting and defaming the artist Mayar El-Beblawi, for the February 4th ruling session.

The Economic Misdemeanor Court had ruled to punish Sheikh Muhammad Abu Bakr with two months’ imprisonment, and to fine the artist Mayar El-Beblawi 20,000 pounds, in the case of accusing them of insulting and slandering each other on social media platforms.

The investigations revealed that Sheikh Muhammad Abu Bakr Muhammad Jad al-Rab insulted and slandered Mayar al-Beblawi, in the Al-Haram District Department in Giza Governorate, publicly by publishing a recorded clip on his named personal account that is available to the public, directing statements to her that included personally threatening incidents, and also directing insulting statements to her, He challenged her honor and damaged her family’s reputation. He also violated the family values ​​and principles of Egyptian society by committing the two crimes that are the subject of the previous two accusations, as stated. investigations, and deliberately disturbing and harassing them, by misusing communications equipment by committing the crimes subject to the accusations stated in the investigations.

The investigations were completed and the artist Mayar El-Beblawi, for her part, insulted the victim, Muhammad Abu Bakr Muhammad – in public, by publishing the recorded clip on her private account on the social networking site Facebook, which is available to the public, directing at him phrases that included an insult to his reputation as indicated in the investigations.

She also deliberately disturbed and harassed the aforementioned victim by misusing means of communication by committing the crime under accusation.
