Aston Villa achieved an exciting victory over its guest, West Ham United, 2-1, in the match that brought them together at Villa Park, in the third round of the FA Cup, to qualify the team to the fourth round of the tournament.
West Ham took an early lead through a goal from Brazilian Lucas Paqueta in the ninth minute.
But Aston Villa came back strongly in the second half, as Amadou Onana scored the equalizer in the 71st minute, before Morgan Rogers added the decisive winning goal just five minutes later, turning the score in his team’s favour.
The meeting witnessed Aston Villa players wearing a special shirt to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the club, in a historic occasion that increased the enthusiasm of the team and its fans.
For its part, West Ham lost the first match under the leadership of its new coach, Graham Potter, who recently took over.
