It’s no secret that Alfonso Davies was one of Real Madrid’s top targets for next season. The Canadian left back ends his contract with Bayern Munich and is allowed to negotiate with any team, but it is becoming more and more apparent that he will actually choose to stay and sign a new contract in Bavaria. His agent is now in Munich and will remain there until January 16th, by which time a final decision is expected to be made.
In Germany it was announced that the parties were already close to an agreement around November 30 after the 1:1 draw in the Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund. “The most likely scenario right now for Davis is a contract extension,” it said. The defender, who now earns 11 million euros gross per season, is expected to earn in the new contract around 15 million euros per season and additionally receive a signing bonus. Looks like he will stay.
Besides Davies, there are several other key players in Bayern who are finishing their contracts, led by Yushua Kimmich, the captain of the German national team, who is known to be wanted by Barcelona and Manchester City. The midfielder represents himself and held talks with the club in the last few days, but a decision has yet to be made and a quick decision is not expected. The offer is a four-season contract with a salary of 20 million euros in addition to a signing bonus.
The one who is currently not supposed to continue is Leroy Sane, who for his part would like to stay but Bayern is debating whether to extend his contract. If the parties reach an agreement, it will be a contract for three seasons with a salary of 15 million euros gross including bonuses, a significant cut compared to the current salary of the winger, who in order to receive a contract extension will have to improve greatly in the second part of the current season.
In addition, Thomas Muller has not yet decided whether to retire or stay in football, when he may eventually extend his contract and earn about 10-15 million euros. The Bavarians will let the club’s all-time record scorer make a decision regarding his future. The one who is supposed to sign a contract extension is Jamal Musiale, with the latest dispute between the parties regarding the introduction of a release clause.
