Syrian artist Jamal Suleiman returned to his country after an absence of thirteen years, which he spent moving between many countries, including Egypt, after declaring his opposition to…Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
Suleiman appeared in a video clip he recorded on the seat of the plane that returned him to Damascus, declaring his longing for the Levant after years of forced absence.
In other recordings, the Syrian artist appeared from Damascus airport, where he was received with hugs and kisses. Outside, he was carried on shoulders while the flag of the Syrian revolution was raised.
“Syria is free today”
The Syrian artist and member of the Negotiating Committee, Jamal Suleiman, considered that Syria is living today in a new phase without the presence of the head of the Syrian regime, Bashar al-Assad, whom he described as a tyrant and tyrant.
He said in a previous interview with Al-Arabi TV from Marrakesh, Morocco: “Syria is free today, and all its children are facing the moment of new birth and a new future.”

He added: “We, as the Syrian opposition, were responsive to international legitimacy and UN Security Council Resolutions 2118 and 2254, and we were looking for a peaceful solution and a smooth political transition through which we would preserve state institutions and build a democratic, non-sectarian system for all Syrians,” noting that the political system prevented that.
Suleiman continued: “We are facing a stage of demolition, and we must build something better than what we destroyed,” pointing out that the struggle of the Syrian people demolished the tyrannical regime in Syria. He considered the construction task difficult.
Suleiman stressed that the new Syria must not be a copy of the regime, even with small practices, stressing that the democratic system must prevail.
