Trump canceled executive orders that promoted the rights of gay and transgender people, in implementation of his pledge that the US government would only recognize two genders, “male and female.”
Targeting the “deep state”
The president signed the document to “end the arming” of the government against political opponents, and the order directs the Minister of Justice to investigate the activities of the federal government over the past four years.
The order also directs the government to “identify and take appropriate action to correct the Federal Government’s wrongdoing with respect to arming law enforcement officials and arming the intelligence community.”
Repeal laws protecting ethnicities
Trump rescinded executive orders aimed at helping Blacks, Latinos, Native Americans, Asians and Pacific Islanders.
He said in his inauguration speech, “This week, I will end the government’s policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life.”
Providing relief to Americans
Trump ordered all executive departments and agencies to provide emergency relief to Americans in light of rising prices and increasing the prosperity of the American worker.
Measures include reducing climate regulations and policies that raise costs, and actions to reduce the cost of housing and expand the housing supply.
Suspension of the resettlement program
Trump also signed an order suspending the US refugee resettlement program for 4 months.
Stopping development aid
Trump suspended foreign development aid for 90 days pending an evaluation of its effectiveness.
Reducing the government workforce
Trump announced the creation of an advisory group aimed at implementing sweeping reductions in the government workforce and wholesale eliminations of government agencies, prompting some to file lawsuits challenging the move.
Freeze government hiring
Trump signed orders to freeze government hiring and new federal regulations, in addition to an order requiring federal workers to fully return to work in person.
Oil exploration
He rescinded a 2023 memorandum issued by Biden banning oil drilling on about 16 million acres in the Arctic, saying the government should encourage energy exploration and production on federal lands and waters, and rescinded a mandate on electric vehicles.
End censorship
Trump signed an executive order that he said aims to “restore freedom of expression and end federal censorship.”
“Under the guise of combating disinformation, disinformation, and misinformation, the federal government has violated Americans’ constitutionally protected speech rights,” the White House said.
