Two attacks in three days: the police are increasing their forces in south Tel Aviv

A second attack in three days in the South Tel Aviv area, led the police commissioner R.N Danny Levy and the commander of the Tel Aviv district Haim Sargerofto thicken the police force in the field, and to pour into the streets of Tel Aviv policemen and vehicles from all the units in the district, all this with the aim of restoring peace and security to the residents.

“We carry out patrols, we significantly increased our presence in the field according to the instructions of the commissioner and the district commander, and we conduct raids on businesses and apartments to locate illegal residents (Shabhim) with the aim of bringing the Shabhim themselves and the business owners who employ them to justice while issuing “Administrative closure orders and the opening of criminal proceedings,” a senior police official told Ma’ariv.

The police are aware of the concerns that arise from among the residents, and from their point of view they are doing everything to demonstrate confidence and presence in order to keep Tel Aviv vibrant and active and restore the routine of life to them.

Let’s recall that on Tuesday evening, the terrorist, an American citizen from Morocco, arrived at Nachalat Binyamin Street in Tel Aviv at around 9:10 PM, and while passing between restaurants, pulled out a knife and began stabbing four civilians with it, injuring them lightly and moderately. The terrorist continued on his way to Gruzenberg Street, stabbing and wounding another passerby.

Security Guard fighters, including a female Security Guard fighter who was out and about in the area, jumped up from their positions, reached for contact, drew their weapons, and the fighter was the one who fired targeted shots and neutralized the terrorist on the spot.

The aforementioned terrorist, 28 years old, arrived in Israel three days earlier, and after his entry into Israel was not approved by the inspectors of the Ministry of the Interior, who transferred the treatment to the Shin Bet inspectors.

Three days earlier, a terrorist resident of Tol Karam stabbed an Israeli citizen who was outside a restaurant in the Levontin area and a resident of Hod Hasharon who was staying at the restaurant jumped out, pulled out his weapon which he had been carrying with a license for only about a month and fired a shot that led to the assassination of the terrorist.

As a result, the Shin Bet began investigating both the circumstances of the two attacks, which were only miraculously stopped while they were still alive and with relatively minor injuries, and the investigation of the security malfunction that allowed the entry of the American citizen who was behind the second attack this week.

A Shin Bet official said: “The terrorist requested a visa, and checks were made before receiving it. When he arrived in Israel, his entry into Israel was based on the tests and assessments that were done. If he had come up as an exceptional request, he would have been refused entry and would not have received a visa. Even when it was discovered that he uploaded a post to social networks and claimed that ‘Israel is starving Gaza’ – this is not about the intention of an attack. This is a bad incident that needs to be learned from and to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
