Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of Mark, issued a decision to form a committee of three members of the Church’s pontiffs and some priests to investigate Pastor Domadeus Habib Ibrahim, who recently caused an uproar because of some of his actions.
The church explained that Pastor Domadius was summoned yesterday, Wednesday, to appear before the committee, where he was heard and discussed with those actions, and the reasons for his non-compliance with the Pope’s decision issued on August 12, 2023, to suspend him from priestly service.
She indicated that the committee concluded the following:
1- The continued suspension of Pastor Domadeus Habib Ibrahim from priestly service.
2- Preventing him from dealing fully with the media or social media in all its forms.
3- He spent a period of spiritual seclusion in one of the Coptic monasteries to give him an opportunity to review himself and his actions, in order to save himself.
Provided that he continues to implement the above for a year, while monitoring the extent of his commitment to it during this period, and in the event that he violates any of the previous three items, he exposes himself to being stripped of his priestly rank.
The Church had confirmed that all the controversial actions taken by Pastor Domadius only represent his person, and the Church is not responsible for those actions.
She explained that this father raised many crises and problems over the years in every church in which he served, and because of his problems he moved between several churches, in addition to his actions from time to time that sparked controversy in the street, on the media, and on social media.
For years, the Church, through its fathers, tried to solve his problems and address his mistakes in a fatherly spirit, out of concern for his peace and salvation. He was advised a lot and given many opportunities. We did this with all patience, patience and calm.
She also indicated that he was investigated in August of last year, and a decision was issued to suspend him from priestly work, a decision that he did not adhere to, but rather recently went further in his controversial behavior.
