Death of Major General Mohamed Farid El-Tohamy, head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service

Major General Mohamed Farid El-Tohamy, former head of the General Intelligence Service, former head of the Administrative Control Authority, and former head of Military Intelligence, passed away yesterday evening.

Al-Tahami graduated from the Egyptian Military College in December 1967, and held all leadership positions in the Egyptian Armed Forces in the Infantry Corps, and also held the position of commander of a mechanized infantry division.

Former President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak issued a presidential decree appointing him as head of the Administrative Control Authority on March 21, 2004.

On December 2, 2012, former President Mohamed Morsi dismissed him from his position as head of the Administrative Control Authority, while President Adly Mansour assigned him to head the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, succeeding Major General Mohamed Raafat Shehata on July 5, 2013.
