The Central Bureau of Statistics announced today (Tuesday) that the prices of construction inputs are soaring, in preparation for the flight of real estate prices that are going to soar. The index rose by 0.4%, which is considered an especially large increase.
And for several months now, every month has been going up, and there is no stopping the price increases in sight. The economists warn that this is only the beginning due to the lack of workers at the construction site and due to the fact that the Palestinian workers are not expected to return to the construction sites, and any attempt to bring in foreign Indian Chinese companies is not successful.
The input price index in residential construction rose in the month of September 2024 by 0.4% and reached 132.5 points compared to 132.0 points in the previous month (base: July 2011 = 100.0 points). Since the beginning of the year, this index has increased by 2.1%. The index of input prices in residential construction without labor wages increased by 0.1%.
In the last twelve months (September 2024 compared to September 2023), the input price index in residential construction increased by 2.3% due to the increase in labor wages by 3.8% and equipment and car rental by 4.1%. The price index of materials and products rose in September 2024 by 0.2%.

Among the materials and products, the prices of iron for construction (by 2.5%), firefighting products (by 1.8%), other quarry materials, sanitary tools and wood for construction (by 0.9% each) and wall and floor tiles, iron grids and faucets, batteries rose especially and various accessories (at 0.8% each). On the other hand, the prices of other metal products and outdoor installations decreased (by 1.1% each). The wage price index paid for those employed in the industry increased by 0.6% in September 2024.
