Former One Direction singer Liam Payne died yesterday, Wednesday, outside a hotel in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, after falling from the balcony of his room on the third floor of a hotel.
The police confirmed that the 31-year-old British musician was found dead after he fell. They were summoned to the hotel located in the Palermo neighborhood of the capital and were notified of the presence of “an aggressive person who may be under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
The statement quoted the hotel manager as saying that he heard a loud noise in the back of the hotel, and when the police arrived, they found that a man had fallen from the balcony of his room. Emergency workers confirmed the death of the singer, who was reportedly found in the hotel’s inner courtyard.
For its part, the Associated Press noted that the hotel manager, when calling 911 before Payne fell from the balcony, said that they had “a guest who is drowning in drugs and alcohol… He is completely destroying the room, and we have to ask you to send someone, please.” The manager’s tone grew more concerned as the call progressed, noting that the room had a balcony.
It is noteworthy that Liam had spoken frankly about his struggle with alcohol addiction, as he published a video in July 2023 on his YouTube channel, in which he said that he had been in recovery for six months after receiving treatment.

The British singer was a member of the band “One Direction”, which was formed in 2010 alongside Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles. The band enjoyed great success before disbanding.

Shock and sadness
A few minutes after the British singer’s death was announced, a large number of people, including his fans, gathered in front of the entrance to the Casa Sur Hotel, where the incident occurred, amid the presence of dozens of police officers.
Forensic investigators were seen leaving the hotel from which Payne’s body was removed about three hours after the incident.
Young women who were taking videos on their phones expressed their shock and sadness as a memorial site was hastily erected in front of the hotel, temporarily, with rows of candles and flowers placed there.
