The name of the Moroccan artist, Dounia Batma, topped the Google search engine trend, after social media pioneers circulated a rumor that she committed suicide inside prison.

Donia Batma’s family published a picture of herself, through her official Instagram account, and commented: “May God protect you, save you, and grant you relief, O Lord, and keep any evil away from you.”

Iman Batma, Dounia Batma’s sister, reassured her followers about the artist’s health condition, denying that her sister committed suicide.

Iman Batma said in statements to the “ET Arabic” program: “They are all rumours, and the world is fine, and the words are coming from us personally.”

Moroccan singer Dounia Batma appealed to the King of Morocco to obtain a royal pardon, following a court ruling rejecting her appeal against the ruling issued to imprison her in the “Hamza Moon Baby” website case.

Dounia appeared in a video clip, crying, and sending a message to King Mohammed V, and said: “My Lord, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant you victory and protect you with what the Wise Men have preserved, and grant your eyes to your Crown Prince, Moulay Hassan, and may God strengthen your support for your brother, Prince Moulay Rachid, and the rest of the family.” The honorable Alawiya, I am Dunya Batma, a shepherd, one of your loyal subjects. I ask that you please include me in your compassion, have mercy on me, have mercy on my daughters, and lift this affliction from me because I felt wronged.”

She continued: “Thank you again to the Moroccan judiciary, which acquitted us of the “Hamza Moon Bibi” account, and we will continue to demand the rights of my sister and me, as they have wronged us greatly.”

Donia Batma confirmed that she had been threatened with death, and added: “They threaten me with death and that they are going to put hashish in my car for me, and I say that when something happened to me, they are the reason, and as Moroccans bear witness to these people.”

She continued: “I am a citizen before I am an artist, and I can benefit from the royal pardon, and I want to thank everyone who stood and stood in solidarity with me and my sister in this crisis, and I am surprised if my only sin was that I sang about my country and we went on an artistic tour in the Moroccan desert and I sang about the king and I wore Desert Malha.

It is noteworthy that the Moroccan Court of Cassation issued a ruling rejecting the cassation submitted by the artist, Dounia Batma, in the case in which she was accused, known in the media as the “Hamza Moon Baby” case.

The court ruled to uphold the sentence issued against her in 2020, which was one year in prison, after her relationship with the Snapchat accounts was proven.

The Hamza Moon Baby case goes back to a Snapchat account that targeted celebrities by broadcasting a group of secrets related to their private lives. Investigations into the case revealed that the Moroccan artist, her sister, and others were behind this account.
