At six in the morning on Friday, the Petroleum Products Pricing Committee raised the prices of all types of gasoline and diesel.
Many citizens wonder why gasoline price increases were announced on Friday, as the committee used to announce new fuel prices in the early hours of Friday morning, after the end of its meeting, which is held every three months.
In a previous statement, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly revealed the reasons for taking decisions to increase fuel prices on holidays.
Madbouly said in a press conference held last July 20: “When I increase prices, there must be coordination and negotiation with all public transport drivers,” adding: “The citizen is at home, there is communication with the drivers, what do I provide? I will assume it was supplied at that time.” The citizen in the street, the Prime Minister, said, and the driver said, “Instead of 7 pounds, it will be 10 pounds. What will happen in the street? He will go out and fight with the driver. There are mechanisms with which I must ensure that nothing happens.”
He continued: “We made coordination. Every governor agreed with the connections on the tariff, in order to ensure that the citizen wakes up and rides in a car and there is no problem… It is very easy to say the words, but what will happen after an hour? There must be a certain estimate, on the day off, so that there is no anxiety, and to reduce the incoming disagreement. It occurs between the provider and the recipient of the service.
He continued: “I cannot announce it in advance. I say tomorrow I will do this. Do you know what will happen? They will be stored. We will find unlimited practices. There must be a certain alignment, and there will be numbers.”
Madbouly said: “They tell you that the government is always bullying us during vacations, but that is not the point of the matter. The citizen is sitting at home, there are arrangements, and in order for it to be over, he knew the news, and so he went down and found out, and every governorate announced what its tariff would be. The citizen is working on his account instead of causing a problem.” .
The Petroleum Products Pricing Committee decided to raise the prices of all types of gasoline and diesel, starting at six o’clock this morning, Friday.
According to the committee’s statement on Friday, the selling price of a liter of 80 octane gasoline for consumer delivery rose to 13.75 pounds, compared to 12.25 pounds last July.
The selling price of a liter of 92 octane gasoline delivered to the consumer is 15.25 pounds, including value-added tax, compared to 13.75 pounds.
The selling price of a liter of 95 octane gasoline for consumer delivery increased by 17 pounds, including value-added tax, compared to 15 pounds.
The selling price of a liter of diesel with normal specifications is as follows: 13.5 pounds compared to 11.5 pounds.
The selling price of automobile gas delivered to the consumer is 7 pounds per cubic meter, including value-added tax, compared to 6.5 pounds.
