After moving fuel prices… how were transportation and political bread affected?

The Petroleum Products Pricing Committee decided this morning, Friday, to raise the prices of all types of gasoline and diesel, with an increase of about 1.5 pounds for all types of gasoline, and an increase of about two pounds per liter of diesel, while the prices of diesel fuel supplied to the electricity and food industries sectors were fixed.

This is the third time that the government has raised fuel prices since the International Monetary Fund expanded its loan program to the country by five billion dollars last March, with Egypt pledging to reduce fuel subsidies as part of its agreement with the Fund.

Increasing the tariffs for taxi rides and public and mass transportation in Cairo

Immediately after the decision to increase gasoline prices, Cairo Governorate amended the tariffs for public transportation, public transportation, public transportation, provincial transportation, and white taxis, in light of the issuance of the decision of the Petroleum Products Pricing Committee.

Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, confirmed that when setting the new ride tariff, the distance of each route and the number of trips were taken into account in order to achieve justice. Increase in tourist bread prices

For his part, Khaled Fekry, Secretary of the Bakeries Division in Cairo, confirmed that the price of tourist bread will be increased during the coming period by a rate ranging from 20 to 25%.

Fikry added, in exclusive statements he made to Masrawy, that prices will be increased due to the increase in the prices of petroleum products, and the increase in the price of flour by up to 1,000 pounds during the previous period.

A source in Cairo Governorate revealed details of the increase in public transport bus ticket prices in the governorate, explaining in exclusive statements to Masrawy that the increase will be as follows:

Regular minibus – from 12 pounds to 14 pounds.

Air-conditioned minibus: from 15 pounds to 17 pounds.

Hatem Al-Naguib, Vice President of the Vegetables Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce, said that the rise in the price of diesel will certainly lead to an increase in the prices of vegetables and fruits, because the agricultural field depends on diesel by 98%.
Al-Najeeb added that the rise in diesel prices will lead to an increase in the prices of agricultural crops by a rate ranging between 7 and 10%, depending on one governorate to another.

Engineer Adel Al-Najjar, Governor of Giza, approved the new tariff for internal and external public transport vehicles, which will be implemented as of today, Friday, in accordance with the attached tables, in light of the decision of the Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products at the Ministry of Petroleum to move the prices of petroleum products. It is noteworthy that immediately after the announcement of the increase in gasoline and diesel prices, Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, followed up with the governors on the measures taken to determine the new ride tariff prices for all public transportation on internal and external lines (microbuses, buses, and public transportation), following the decision of the Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products.

The Minister indicated that directives were given to activate the operating and crisis management rooms in the governorates, raise the level of readiness of all concerned agencies, and quickly issue decisions to amend the new tariffs set for taxi and service rides in the district of each governorate and the neighboring governorates.

I also directed the intensification of monitoring campaigns on service stations within each governorate to prevent exploitation of citizens, and to set service prices according to the new increase in petroleum products, while setting the new pricing for the ride tariff inside the parking lots and on the front and rear windshields of vehicles and announcing it.
