Al-Hilal (the defending champion) is looking to return to the winning path after tying with its rival, Al-Nasr, when it receives Al-Ettifaq in the tenth stage of the Saudi Football League.
Al-Hilal II is currently two points behind leaders Al-Ittihad after its victory – Thursday – over Al-Orouba with a clean double, while Al-Ettifaq team, led by English coach Steven Gerrard, is ranked 11th.
Al Hilal’s streak of victories stopped after the draw in last Friday’s summit, when Al Nassr opened the scoring through Brazilian Talisca in the first minute, before Serbian Sergej Milinkovic-Savic equalized the score a quarter of an hour before the end of time.
Al Hilal’s last loss in the league dates back to May 2023 against Al Adala, 0-2, noting that it won the title last season without defeat, by winning 31 matches out of 34.
On the other hand, Al-Ettifaq is seeking to achieve its first victory in 7 matches, after a successful start in the first 3 rounds, during which it scored 9 points.
Al-Ettifaq reduced the pressure slightly after its victory over Al-Qadisiyah of Kuwait in the Gulf Club Champions League 1-0, after the defeat in the Al-Sharqiya derby against Al-Qadisiyah in the last stage 2-0, causing criticism to be heaped on Gerrard.
