The late Gilan Hamza is an Egyptian writer, journalist, novelist, and media personality. She graduated from the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University, then obtained a master’s degree and then a doctorate degree in media from Zagazig University for a thesis entitled “The Impact of Television on Youth.”
Gilan Hamza wrote her first novel when she was seventeen years old. Her first novel was titled A Heart Without a Mask. Then she wrote the novel The Game and the Truth, for which she won the Young Writers Award. Following her father’s death, Abdel Qader Hatem, the Egyptian Minister of Information at the time, nominated her to work as a broadcaster on Egyptian television, so Abdel Hamid took her.
