Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad, Minister of Social Development and Family, announced the start of preparations for the launch of the Qatar Social Observatory, in a qualitative step aimed at strengthening the interactive social monitoring system in Qatar.
Her Excellency confirmed, in a press statement, that the observatory represents an early warning bell for monitoring social phenomena that may affect families and society in general, and is considered a solid scientific tool that contributes to developing the skills of national competencies in the fields of social and humanitarian research.
His Excellency the Minister highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership with the National Planning Council, which is a partner in supporting and directing the project towards achieving its national goals, and the Ibn Khaldun Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, which represents the research and scientific partner for the project, by providing academic and research expertise that contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of the observatory and developing its capabilities.
Her Excellency Mrs. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misned, Minister of Social Development and Family, explained that communication with the Observatory to provide it with observations or social reports will be done through a dedicated electronic page on the website of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, and in close cooperation with the National Planning Council and the Ibn Khaldun Center for Humanities and Social Sciences affiliated with the University. Qatar, where the observatory relies on three main monitoring mechanisms: field monitoring such as questionnaires and surveys, digital monitoring through advanced programs, direct interviews with the public and community dialogues.
Her Excellency stressed the importance of the strategic partnership with the National Planning Council, which is a key partner in supporting the project and achieving its national goals, and the major role of the Ibn Khaldun Center for Humanities and Social Sciences affiliated with Qatar University as it is the research partner in the project.
For his part, His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Planning Council, said: “The National Planning Council will play a major role in supporting and implementing the Qatar Social Observatory, to be an effective tool for analyzing social data and providing scientific foundations for developing social policies and national plans.” This contributes to enhancing integration and avoiding conflict in efforts to achieve our comprehensive and sustainable development vision.”
His Excellency explained that this role provided by the Council comes within its efforts to achieve the third national development strategy of the State of Qatar 2024-2030, and in implementation of its strategy in relation to drawing up appropriate policies and studying the phenomena that affect the achievement of the Qatar National Vision 2030, and in the context of its constant endeavor to strengthen a strategic partnership that brings together all parties. effective in the country, and based on its keenness to support and encourage national initiatives that achieve the national results of the third national development strategy 2024-2030 Especially with regard to achieving a “cohesive society”.
He added that the National Planning Council will provide all support to this observatory, and aspires to move forward with practical steps that complement this initiative so that the “Qatar Social Observatory” will be a sustainable support that enhances integrated development efforts, supports the achievement of ambitious national results, and achieves the social development pillar included in the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Qatar Social Observatory aims to provide early warning signals to decision makers about social phenomena that require intervention or treatment, which contributes to developing optimal solutions to social challenges.
The observatory’s work is based on collecting information and data through scientific methods to support targeted community research and programs, which enhances society’s ability to proactively confront its challenges.
