Egyptian sports commentator and former football player Mohamed Abdel Latif, known as (Mimi El-Sherbiny), died on Monday, at the age of 87, after a struggle with illness, according to what Egyptian media announced.

Football stars carried the body of the late Mimi El-Sherbiny, the former Al-Ahly star and sports commentary legend, to his final resting place after performing the funeral prayer over him at the Amr Ibn Al-Aas Mosque in Cairo, on Tuesday afternoon.

Commentators on social media expressed their sadness over the death of the well-known sports commentator, who was the former star of Al-Ahly Club and the Egyptian national team. A number of Egyptian football players in different clubs mourned him.

El-Sherbiny was born on July 26, 1937. He began his football career with the Egyptian Cairene Club, and his talent caught the attention of the two well-known Egyptian clubs, Al-Ahly and Zamalek.
