El Salvador’s National Civil Police arrested Montano in connection with illegal activities to influence political decisions in the country.

Mayor of SoyapanMontano allegedly violated his duties to the detriment of public administration in order to influence a significant strategic position.

According to the arrest warrant for Montana, the Office of the Public Prosecutor, with the help of the National Civil Police of El Salvador, complained about the crimes and their mission to protect the interests of society.

The President of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, supported the local population and authorities and appeared against the mayor of Soyapango.

President Bukela reacted to the capture Montano, saying that corruption in the country was never touched and that officials of the same party found ways to corrupt the government.

He assured that he would support the police and authorities in taking legal measures against corruption and abuse of power. The president said:

If we want to grow as a society, we must know that this is a necessity and an inevitability. We should root out the bad so that the good can move forward.

However, several ordinary people, national opposition sectors and human rights organizations do not support President Bukele. They are dissatisfied with some of his harsh decisions in the country.
