On Monday night, Udonis Haslem made NBA Finals history when the Miami Heat beat the Boston Celtics in Game 7 and advanced to the championship round.

Haslem became the second oldest player in the NBA Finals, behind only legends Robert Parish and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

On Wednesday, Miami Heat veteran Udonis Haslem played just 29.8 seconds in the Heat’s Game 3 loss to Denver in the NBA Finals.

On the other hand, Haslem made history by becoming the oldest player to compete in an NBA Finals game. Haslem will turn 43 on Friday, making him 42 years and 363 days old.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar of the Los Angeles Lakers set the previous mark for the oldest player to appear in the Finals. On June 13, 1989, Abdul-Jabbar was 42 years and 58 days old when he played in the Finals.

Unfortunately for Haslem, his short appearance came at the end of a 109-94 home loss in a pivotal game for Miami. However, the record remains a tribute to Haslem’s durability as he enters his 20th and final season.

In March, Haslem told Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald that this would be his last season no matter what happened.

Few could have imagined that the Heat would have a Finals run at the time. However, with Miami now just three wins away from a championship, Haslem has a legitimate opportunity to cap off his career with another triumph.
