Josh Frost and Lane Frost are prominent figures in the rodeo family. Besides having the same last name and coming from a rodeo family, they are also related.
Lane Frost was a professional rodeo cowboy specializing in bull riding and competed in the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association). The 1987 PRCA World Champion Bull Rider was a 1990 inductee into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame.
Lane was the only rider to earn qualifying rides at Red Rock on the 1990 ProRodeo Hall of Fame bull and the 1987 PRCA Bucking Bull of the Year.

Is Josh Frost related to Lane Frost? Are they cousins?
The late rodeo cowboy Lane Frost is second cousin Josh Frost. As Josh is also a member of the rodeo family and has achieved significant success, many have wondered if he is related to World Champion Bull Riding and five-time NFR qualifier Lane Frost.
Josh and Lane have never met. When Josh Frost was born, it had been seven years since Lane had died in a tragic incident.
Lane Frost was born in Lapointe, Utah to parents Clyde and Elsie. Lane’s father was on the rodeo circuit as a saddle bronc. The late bull rider had a younger brother, Cody, and an older sister, Robin.
Lane started driving milk trucks at a young age. The legendary rider won his first rodeo award at the Little Buckaroos when he was 10 years old.
After graduating high school in 1982, Frost became a member of the PRCA and began competing regularly in rodeo. At the age of 24, he won the PRCA World Bull Riding Championship in 1987.
Growney Bros. Red Rock bull. Rodeo won the title of “Bucking Bulling of the Year”. In 1988 at the Challenge of the Champions, Frost attempted and won four of the seven exhibition fights in which he rode.
He later participated in the Rodeo ’88 Challenge Cup, part of the Cultural Olympiad of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.
Unfortunately, he passed away at the age of 25 after suffering severe injuries at the 1989 Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo. On July 30, 1989, a bull named Takin’ Care of Business gored him in the back after a ride, breaking many ribs and causing internal injuries.
Josh Frost’s Family and Ethnicity
Josh Frost was born in the mid-1990s in his parents, Shane and Lisa Frost. As of 2024, he is 28 years old.
The skilled rider has two brothers, Joe and Jate, and a sister, Jacelyne Frost. Josh comes from a family of bull riders and is a third generation PRCA cowboy. His grandfather, Joe Frost, and his father, Shan Frost, were members of the PRCA.
Similarly, Josh Frost’s uncle, Clyde Frost, competed in the first NFR in bareback riding in 1959. Clyde also qualified twice in saddle riding.
Josh Frost’s brother, Joe Frost, is a three-time WNFR bull riding qualifier.
Josh Frost’s career
Josh Frost started competing in rodeo when he was eight years old. He is currently ranked third in bull riding in the world.
His favorite rodeo is the Cache County Fair and Rodeo in Logan, Utah, where he competed four times and won the all-around three times. Josh’s favorite bull is American Sniper.
The 28-year-old bull rider describes his father, brother and college rodeo coach Robert Etabuer as his role models.
