Macaulay Culkin’s addiction had a significant impact on his personal and professional life. He is known for having one of the biggest falls from grace in showbiz.

The American actor is best known for his role in the Christmas comedy franchise Home alonewhere he plays the main character Kevin McCallister.

His other films include My girlfriend, Good son, Richie Rich, uncle buck, Site masterand Party Monster.

Although Macaulay shone as a child actor, his later life was marred by addiction and other problems.

Macaulay Culkin Addiction: Is He In Rehab?

It is known that Macaulay Culkin was addicted to drugs. A family crisis and a failing career affected him, and he turned to the habit of drug abuse.

However, in 2020 Macaulay declared that his drug days were over. He insisted he was no longer touching drugs as he spoke about his plans to start a family with his girlfriend Brenda Song and their three cats.

In a candid interview with Esquirethe actor admitted he ‘played with fire’ using drugs, but somehow got through his darkest days without checking into rehab.

The Home alone star said drugs are like his old friends, adding: “But sometimes you outgrow your friends.” He said that he does not take drugs recreationally, except for occasional muscle relaxants.

The 43-year-old didn’t have a great childhood. Macaulay said his father was cruel and violent when he was a child. He felt that his father was jealous of his career.

His parents separated when he was a teenager. He took his parents to court to prevent them from controlling his trust fund, reportedly worth $15 million to $20 million. From then on he became estranged from his Father.

Macaulay Culkin was arrested for drugs

Macaulay Culkin has not been arrested at this time. He claims to be past his drug years. But in 2004, when Macaulay was 24, his picture made headlines around the world.

After officers searched his car in Oklahoma City in September 2004, he was charged with over-the-counter possession of marijuana and two controlled substances, Alprazolam and Clonazepam.

He was jailed briefly and later released on $4,000 bail. After appearing in court on drug-related offences, he initially pleaded not guilty, but later withdrew his guilty plea.

Macaulay then received three one-year suspended prison terms and a $540 fee.

Macaulay Carson Culkin was born in New York to parents Christopher Cornelius “Kit” Culkin and Patricia Brentrup. His father was a theater actor and worked as a church sacristan, while his mother worked as a telephone operator.

Patricia, a native of North Dakota, moved with Christopher to New York City. The couple was never married, but they had seven children.

Macaulay’s siblings are 48-year-old Shane, Dakota (1979-2008), 42-year-old Kieran, 40-year-old Quinn, 37-year-old Christian and 35-year-old Rory.

His older sister Dakota died after being hit by a car in 2008. He also had a half-sister on his father’s side, Jennifer Adamson (1970–2000), who died of a drug overdose.

Macaulay married actress Rachel Miner in 1998 when they were both 18, but divorced after four years. After that, he started dating actress Mila Kunis in 2002, which reportedly broke up in 2010.

He later established a relationship with his own Changeland co-star Brenda Song and the couple welcomed a son in April 2021, whom they named Dakota Song Culkin after Macaulay’s late sister.

Macaulay’s paternal aunt is American actress Bonnie Bedelia. He is an American citizen of Irish, German, Norwegian and other European descent.
