Gold was raised in East London at 442 Green Street, not far from West Ham’s Boleyn Ground, after being born in Stepney.
His father refused to co-sign the documents he was asked to sign as a first-team trainee while playing youth football for West Ham.
Godfrey, his father, an East End gangster known as “Goldy” in the neighborhood, was locked up when Gold was young. His mother was Christian, but his father was Jewish.
In November 2006, he and his brother sold their properties. After the decline in sales and profitability, in 2007 the brothers gave up their share in Sportski novine.
Until he sold it in 2006 for £4.4m, he was the owner of corporate airline Gold Air International.
Personal life of David Gold
Gold married Beryl Hunt in 1957. On the same day, he discovered that his father was taking his shares.
Gold saw her having an affair with his best friend at his pool, which led to their divorce in 1972. Hunt died in 2003. They had two children:
