Stephen A. Smith, Micah Parsons tangle before NBA Celebrity ASG

The biggest hater of Dallas Cowboys fans was done in by a member of the team.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, who has trolled the Dallas fan base for years with his schtick, suffered an ankle injury while playing basketball with Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons ahead of the Celebrity All-Star Game on Friday, part of the NBA’s All-Star weekend.

“First Take” host Molly Qerim revealed the news to open Friday’s show, with Smith absent and undergoing tests at the hospital. Network insider Adam Schefter said Smith told him via text message he would still “definitely” coach his team against fellow media personality and occasional “First Take” co-host Shannon Sharpe – albeit in an ankle brace.

Eventually joining the show, Smith refuted the initial report that Parsons’ crossover move was the reason for the injury, but he did call the two-time All-Pro an “offensive foul waiting to happen.”

Good thing Smith is coaching and not playing — though even as a coach he had few answers for Parsons. The Cowboys star led Team Shannon to victory and was named the Celebrity Game MVP after dropping 37 points and pulling down 16 rebounds.
