Blaise Taylor, former Titans scout, charged in poisoning death of girlfriend, unborn child

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A former Tennessee Titans scout has been indicted on two counts of first-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend and her unborn child.

Blaise Taylor, 27, was arrested by Deputy U.S. Marshals at the request of MNPD in Utah after the grand jury indictment. Taylor worked as a pro scout for the Titans for four years, according to his LinkedIn profile. He’s also the son of former University of Tennessee assistant coach Trooper Taylor.

The younger Taylor is accused of poisoning Jade Benning on Feb. 25, 2023, and the unborn baby which Taylor allegedly fathered.

Benning was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by ambulance after Taylor called 911 and said Benning appeared to be having an allergic reaction and asked for paramedics. Police said Benning’s condition immediately became critical. Her unborn fetus died on Feb. 27. Police said Benning was not able to be interviewed by detectives before she died on March 6, 2023.

Police said months of investigation, led by homicide detective Adam Reese, and involving scientists from the crime lab and doctors from the Medical Examiner’s Office, led to Wednesday’s murder indictment against Taylor.

After Benning and the child’s death, Taylor moved to Utah, where he worked with former Arkansas State Coach Blake Anderson at Utah State University as senior defensive analyst.

Metro Nashville Police will be working with Utah authorities to arrange Taylor’s return to Nashville, which will likely take weeks.
