Albero Morata, score: 3
The Spanish striker was not in the game, was not felt, missed a great opportunity and left at halftime.
The second leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League kicked off today (Tuesday) with one of the craziest games we’ve seen this season in Europe. At the end, Dortmund advanced to the semi-finals of the Champions League after a crazy 2:4 over Atletico Madrid, who can leave the game very disappointed.
Already at the opening we got a glimpse of what was going to happen when after only five minutes both teams missed opportunities. First it was Marcel Zavicer who squeezed a crazy save from Cesar Azpilicueta, and on the other hand Ablero Morata missed from close range.
In the 34th minute, the Germans, who were more dangerous, managed to take the lead when Julian Brandt scored after a mistake by Jan Oblak. Five minutes passed, and Jan Matsen doubled the lead by finishing off a beautiful attack by the yellow-blacks. The teams went into the break with a 0:2 lead for the host.
At the start of the second half, Diego Simeone made a triple substitution that quickly worked. Four minutes from the start of the second half and a corner kick ended in an unfortunate own goal by Mats Hummels. In the 64th minute, the guests managed to equalize with a great goal by Angel Cora, which gave Atlético an advantage in the summary of the two meetings.
The Germans did not give up and seven minutes later managed to shrink again from a goal by Niklas Polkrug which once again established equality in the summary of the two meetings. Three minutes passed and the crazy game continued with another great goal, this time by Mechs Zavitzer who set up another turnaround and gave Dortmund 2:4 in the game, and 4:5 in the summary of the two meetings.
Until the end, Atlético tried to shrink and send the game to extra time, but the pressure provided a role for Diego Simeone’s men. The Germans were actually closer to increasing the advantage, but missed a lot. In the end, Dortmund advanced to the semi-finals.
The yellow-blacks will meet PSG in the semi-finals, which defeated Barcelona 1:4 this evening. On the other hand, the Spaniards will return disappointed and concentrate on the fight for third place in the Spanish league.
