Portuguese national team coach Roberto Martinez decided to exclude national team star Cristiano Ronaldo and 7 other players, in preparation for the friendly match against Sweden next Thursday.
The Portuguese newspaper “Record” reported: “Martinez decided to give Ronaldo a greater opportunity to rest while he was spending his vacation with his family in Saudi Arabia, but he is scheduled to join the Portuguese national team roster before the second friendly match on March 26, against the Slovenia national team.”
The newspaper added: “In addition to Ronaldo, Diego Dalot, Joao Cancelo, Danilo Pereira, Otavio, Ruben Neves, Vitinha, and Joao Felix were also excluded.”
It is noteworthy that Ronaldo played 33 matches with the Saudi Al-Nasr team this season, during which he managed to score 30 goals and provide 11 assists.
