His funeral was held yesterday (Wednesday) at 23:30 in the military section of the old cemetery, and hundreds of residents accompanied him on his last journey. The many eulogies were opened by IDF representative Col. Oren Zini who said: “.. you fell on the battlefield in a war that you believed was a war for the home and the people you loved so much. The sorrow and pain are immense, along with pride for everyone you were and everything you did. You were a humble, quiet and kind person, your friends liked to stay with you. You were a mature and responsible person of conversation and advice.”

He also said: “It was important for you to help and contribute wholeheartedly despite the great challenges you faced. You saw importance in contributing to the country and felt a great responsibility to serve a warrior. Between the great concern for your dear family, you aspired to the maximum in your military service. You never complained. You were an inspiration to all of us.”

Col. Zini also said that throughout his service, the late Nissim participated in many operational events, committed himself to every task, acted responsibly while striving for contact. Among other things, he fought in Sderot and Kfar Gaza against many terrorists and saved many civilians: “You were supposed to be in ‘Michudat’ but because you are a friend and a person, you changed friends even though you could have done otherwise. On March 27th, during an activity in the Al Amal neighborhood in Khan Yunis, Nafalat Halal “he said” they were proud of the miracles… Blessed are the people, asked his warriors. I salute you.”

After him, in a voice broken by the tears of his father Gabriel, he eulogized and said: “Thank you to the Creator of the world for giving us 21 years to enjoy you, your virtues, your love for your mother and brothers. You would have come from the base broken and tired and yet wash the floor. Who will fill your void? The house fell apart. I I remember once we talked and I lowered my eyes. You asked me father why you lower your eyes. I should lower them… I told you ‘it’s because you have the eyes of an angel.’

The father later told of the fact that only a week before the enlistment he knew that his son was enlisting in the IDF: “You went to orders without telling me, a week before the enlistment you told me you needed to buy equipment… You believed in your way of defending the country. Like you, many soldiers fell, it’s a pain that doesn’t let up and will never get over it. I already knew that you enlisted and I also knew a week ago that you said you were going in and that we would pray for you. How many prayers mother prayed and how many psalms I read about you. I’m proud of you, pray for us.”

The late Nissim’s uncle, Reuven, eulogized him: “I remember that on October 7 I drove you to the train and I said Nissim is atonement for you, my life, don’t go. You told me, ‘I enlisted to fight, don’t worry, everything will be fine… my love, you are always in our hearts.'” .

After him, Nissim’s brothers, the late Oral Maayan and Yosef, spoke: “My Nissim Haim, you are everything to me. How do we continue? You are my heart… Every second you are not here I feel as if a part of me has been taken away,” said his sister Maayan. I will be whole without you. I want you to come back, be here for me, hug me. You are my joy. It seems to me that I cannot survive without you even for one little second.”

The chief rabbi of the city, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Biton, said: “Adar is a month of miracles and we were not privileged to have miracles. How is the Kaddish of a father on a son? How do you tell your mother and brothers that you were killed? a hero You said if there is an army, then the most combative, to give one’s life for the people of Israel. Winking from the material of leaders, you gave your life to the people of Israel. You ascend to heaven to meet Grandfather Nissim and Rabbi Michael Gabbai, along with every Magen David synagogue where you grew up, I beg you: tell the Creator of the world, ‘Enough, until when, Father’?”

The series of obituaries were signed by his good friends Yaakov, Tamir and Harel, who told about a good friend who was a leader among the friends and a brother and about the plans they planned together for the time when Nissim would be released: “It’s hard to describe what kind of friend you were… you died a martyr’s death and angels are now accompanying you up above.”

The family lives in Sheva at 9 Mofar Kadesh Street, Givat Olga.
